Glossary

Plain-language meanings of the terms used in Pact.

TermMeaning
Activation delayTime a new payee must wait before it can be paid. The owner can remove the payee during it
Address poisoningAn attack where someone sends a tiny transfer from an address that looks like one you pay, hoping you copy it from your history
AgentThe AI in your team chat that proposes payments, trades, and service payments. It can’t approve or withdraw
AllowlistYour team’s list of approved payees. Pact only pays addresses on it
Block explorerA public website that shows any transaction on a chain, such as Solscan for Solana or Cardanoscan for Cardano
BudgetThe most that can be paid, traded, or spent on services per day, week, or 30 days
CapThe largest single payment or trade the policy allows
DustingSending tiny amounts to many addresses. Often the first step of address poisoning
LookalikeAn address that shares the first and last characters of one of your payees but isn’t the same
MultisigA wallet that needs several signatures to send money
Non-custodialPact never holds your keys. Your team’s wallet controls the treasury
OnchainStored on the blockchain itself, where anyone can read it and nobody can quietly change it
PayeeA person or vendor on your allowlist that Pact can pay
PolicyYour team’s rules: caps, budgets, allowed markets, payees, and the agent’s service budget
PurseA small, capped balance the agent pays for services from. It refills only inside your service budget
RefusalA payment the smart contract blocked because it broke your policy. It is recorded onchain with the reason
Request keyA key kept on a member’s phone that signs their payment requests
Smart contractThe program on the chain that holds your treasury and enforces your policy. On Solana it’s called a program; on Cardano, a validator
TestnetA test version of a chain with no real money, used before mainnet
TreasuryYour team’s funds, held in an account the smart contract owns and your wallet controls
